CHRISTIANITY THRU SPORTSMANSHIP
AS COACHES WE ALL BELIEVE THAT PROFANITY, DISPLAYS OF ANGER, DISHONEST AND CHILDISH CONDUCT ARE NOT ONLY UNCHRISTIAN BUT COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO OUR CHOSEN APOSTOLATE OF INFLUENCING YOUTH AND HAVE NO PLACE IN CYO. FURTHERMORE WE WILL:
1. Remember that I am a youth coach, and that the game is for children and not
adults;
2. Lead, by example, in demonstrating fair play, Christian values and
sportsmanship to all my players;
3. Place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of my personal
desire to win;
4. Remember to treat each player as an individual, remembering the large spread of
emotional and physical development for the same age group;
5. Do my very best to provide a safe playing situation for my players;
6. Develop an attitude of respect from players towards coaches, opponents,
umpires, parents and fans;
7. Do my best to constructively use and inspire assistant coaches;
8. Do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging to all my players;
9. Insure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of each sport the I coach, and that I
will teach these rules to my players; and
10. Use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.
